On Friday, we had a cake sale and we raised loads and loads of money - guess how much money we raised? £170! Plus the money we already had, that makes over £200 to send to orangutans. We're going to send £100 to the World Wildlife Fund, and the rest to Sepilok Orangutan Appeal (http://www.orangutan-appeal.org.uk/). Thanks to everyone who brought things in for the sale. The cake sale was really really exciting - and very busy.

Project Palm Oil: Action

On Wednesday and Thursday, we went around the classes and told them all about orangutans and how they're endangered because of palm oil plantations - and how cute orangutans are! At the end, Joe gave us a few tips, and we'll tell you what they are:
1. Buy wood from the forest stewardship council (http://www.fsc.org/), to make sure it's not cut down from the rainforest
2. Vegetable oil or vegetable fat COULD be palm oil - but it normally means rapeseed oil, so try and find out what it is. If in doubt, don't buy the product.
Then we said "any questions?" and that was it. Photos are coming soon.

plans for tomorrow

Tomorrow we are going round all the classes at Sciennes school to tell everyone about orangutans, how they are endangered by palm oil plantations and not to buy products with palm oil in. We'll also tell them about our CAKE SALE which is on FRIDAY at 12 in the school playground.
